The Lakers of West Bloomfield were no match for the Lake Orion Dragons on Friday night at Lake Orion High School.

West Bloomfield fell 49-12 to Lake Orion. The Dragons are now 3-0 and 2-0 in the Red for the season while the Lakers fell to 1-2 and 0-2 in the Red this season.

The fun started when Lake Orion drove down the field after a 40 yard kickoff return by Cory Ester. The drive led to Matt Krause scoring an eight yard touchdown giving the Dragons a 7-0 lead. Krause would get hurt to an ankle injury. His status for the Stoney Creek game is uncertain.

Lake Orion then scored again when Connor Grant found Chris Leigh for a 40 yard pass to the Lakers one yard line. Leigh would score a one yard touchdown to make the score 14-0.

The Dragons weren’t done yet when Grant connected with Ester for a 16 yard pass and one play later Ester was in the West Bloomfield end zone for a 21-0 lead.

Lake Orion was still not done yet when Ester returned a punt for 30 yards and then Dominic Giovinnazzo scored from ten yards out to give the Dragons a 28-0 lead.

West Bloomfield responded when Lakers quarterback Robert Powell connected on a screen pass to Chris Watkins. Watkins took the ball to the five yard line and then two plays later Navon Mosley scored from one yard out making the score 28-6 Dragons.

The Dragons started the third quarter out when Ester had a 14 yard touchdown run making the score 35-6.

West Bloomfield wasn’t done yet when Powell connected with Obbie Jackson on another bubble screen to the Lake Orion 18 yard line and one play later Jackson was in the end zone for a 35-12 lead for the Dragons.

The Dragons responded the Lakers touchdown by a 55 yard touchdown pitch and catch from Grant to Zach Greene making the score 42-12 Lake Orion.

Lake Orion would close the scoring when backup quarterback Cameron Kostiz found Drew Casey from 19 yards out for a touchdown making the score 49-12 Dragons.

The Dragons are 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Red gear up for a big one next Friday night in Rochester against the Stoney Creek Cougars who is coming in at 3-0 and 2-0 in the Red. They just beat Troy 21-12 last week. We’ll see what happens in Rochester.
