Sometimes stories don’t always have a happy ending.

It happened on Friday night to the Orion Dragons.

The ninth ranked Dragons lost a heartbreaker in five sets to the third ranked Clarkston Wolves 25-22, 23-25, 14-25, 25-21, and 12-15 at home in the district championship game.

Orion was led by Mallorie Berriman’s 13 blocks and 11 kills. Leah Kalugar and Danielle Sargent had 12 kills each. Lindsey Wightman had 18 aces and three digs as well in defeat.

The Wolves were led by Abby Malanowski’s 18 kills, Sarah Austin had 15 kills, and Madi Jidas had 27 digs.

Clarkston will move onto the regional semifinals at New Baltimore Anchor Bay against Macomb Dakota on Tuesday night.
