The Andover Barons cease football operations

Written Tuesday September 11th, at 10:30 PM

It’s hard to believe that this football team is now gone forever after finishing 10-2 in 2004.

Now the Bloomfield Hills Andover Barons are disbanded.

On Tuesday, the Bloomfield Hills School District pulled the plug on the Barons season after only 11 players showed up to practice for it’s game on Friday against Ferndale.

Next season the Barons will merge with Bloomfield Hills Lahser to become the Bloomfield Hills Blackhawks.

The Knights are currently ranked number five in the Dragons Den poll play at Groves on Friday.

Andover started the season 0-3 and 0-3 in the Blue will finish 0-9 and 0-8 in the Blue after forfeiting its final six games. Now teams, especially in the Blue (Ferndale, Avondale, Seaholm, Royal Oak, Goodrich, and Groves) that were suppose to play the Barons are now trying to find teams to play for the rest of the season.

The final game ever for Andover football was a 62-13 loss to Berkley.

It’s unfortunate and sad that these players, especially the seniors won’t be able to play its final football game for Andover and what happens to the players on the team this season??? Will they play at Lahser???

That’s the answer nobody but the Bloomfield Hills School District knows.
