OAA Picks Week Six.

Written Wednesday October 2nd, at 8:00 AM

1. Clarkston (4-1, 4-0 Red) at Pontiac (0-5, 0-4 Red): The Wolves blew out Stoney Creek last week 42-7. The Phoenix were blown out 40-0 by Rochester at Wisner Stadium and it is homecoming at Pontiac this week. This is just such a mismatch that Clarkston will win but by how many. PICK: CLARKSTON 56, PONTIAC 0.

2. Southfield (4-1, 4-0 White) at Oxford (2-3, 2-2 White): The Blue Jays have survived the last two weeks winning by a combined nine points. The Wildcats have had three losses by a combine of 15 points. Oxford won here two years ago and Southfield doesn't like to travel north of M-59. The Blue Jays have all the talent but in a rainy night which is forecast to be, got to go with the upset. PICK: OXFORD 24, SOUTHFIELD 21.

3. Lake Orion (4-1, 3-1 Red) at 10. Rochester (3-2, 2-2 Red): This is a big game for Rochester on it's homecoming. The Dragons looked awful for seven quarters until a 35 point fourth quarter explosion against Troy at Ford Field. The Falcons have won two in a row but they have been against two bottom feeders in West Bloomfield and Pontiac, even though West Bloomfield had a chance to beat the Falcons. Lake Orion has had a history of ruining homecoming games for the visitors and will do so once again this week. PICK: LAKE ORION 35, ROCHESTER 14.

4. Harrison (4-1, 3-1 White) at Southfield-Lathrup (1-4, 0-4 White): The Hawks lost a tough and emotional game last week to Southfield 20-19. The Chargers are coming off a 21-14 loss to Bloomfield Hills last week. If you look at everything on paper, the team with the better record will get a happy bus ride home back to Farmington Hills. PICK: HARRISON 42, SOUTHFIELD-LATHRUP 7.

Troy Athens (1-4, 1-3 Red) at 5. Stoney Creek (4-1, 3-1 Red): The Cougars return home after getting blown out by Clarkston 42-7 last week. The homecoming hype will be well worth it for Stoney Creek after winning after blowing out Lake Orion two weeks ago. The Red Hawks are a mess after losing 32-29 at home to West Bloomfield last week. It will be a happy homecoming for coach Brad Zube's crew. PICK: STONEY CREEK 42, TROY ATHENS 7

6. Oak Park (4-1, 3-1 White) at Bloomfield Hills (1-4, 1-3 White): The road weary Knights have been living on the edge the last two weeks against Farmington last week (won 26-21) and losing to Southfield (20-12) two weeks ago. The Blackhawks just got their first win as a school by beating Southfield-Lathrup 21-14 last week. Oak Park better be careful not to look ahead to next week's game at Farmington Hills against Harrison. PICK: OAK PARK 40, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.

7. Birmingham Seaholm (5-0, 4-0 Blue) at Hazel Park (0-5, 0-4 Blue): Yet another mismatch right here. The Maples have everything rolling right now but had some trouble with Royal Oak before pulling away late last week. The Vikings were crushed 35-6 last week by Ferndale and this is only expected to get worse on the home field. PICK: SEAHOLM 56, HAZEL PARK 0.

8. Beverly Hills Wylie E. Groves (5-0, 4-0 Blue) at Royal Oak (2-3, 2-2 Blue): The Falcons put up 49 points for the second week in a row against North Farmington last week. The Ravens put up 21 points last week against Birmingham Seaholm. This game will be close early in Royal Oak but Groves will make the Ravens 4-47 since 2007 but the score will be very similar then the first two weeks the Falcons have had against Avondale and North Farmington. PICK: GROVES 49, ROYAL OAK 22.

Farmington (1-4, 1-3 White) at 9. Rochester Adams (3-2, 2-2 White): The Falcons have lost some close games, including last week against Oak Park and is likely to miss the playoffs this season. The Highlanders are rolling after beating Oxford in a classic. Adams should keep on rolling at home heading into a trip to Southfield next week but be careful of Farmington, it will be closer than the experts think. PICK: ADAMS 35, FARMINGTON 21.

Avondale (2-3, 1-3 Blue) at North Farmington (3-2, 2-2 Blue): The Raiders were blown out by Groves 49-22 last week. Their opponent Avondale was also blown out by Groves by that same exact score but the Yellow Jackets fell victim to Berkley last week losing 34-31 in Auburn Hills. In a battle of running attacks North Farmington will eliminate Avondale from the playoffs this week but the Yellow Jackets can't stop anyone right now. PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 42, AVONDALE 28.

Troy (2-3, 2-2 Red) at West Bloomfield (2-3, 1-3 Red): The Lakers won a tough 32-29 victory over Troy Athens on the road while the Colts were tied with Lake Orion at 17-17 in the middle part of the third quarter before allowing 35 unanswered points at Ford Field. Troy returns their starting quarterback and West Bloomfield's defense has been prone to the pass. The Lakers will be motivated because it is their homecoming but in the end the Colts will get this win because of their passing game and defense. PICK: TROY 35, WEST BLOOMFIELD 21.

Berkley (2-3, 2-2 Blue) at Ferndale (1-4, 1-3 Blue): The Eagles got their first win of the season last week over Hazel Park 35-6 but the Bears upset Avondale 34-31 last week in Auburn Hills. So who's big win was more huge??? I'm going with the Bears here because Berkley right now is fighting to make a push to the playoffs. PICK: BERKLEY 35, FERNDALE 6.
