OAA Picks Week Seven

Written Tuesday October 2nd, at 11:25 PM

All games are at 7 PM unless otherwise

1. Lake Orion (6-0, 5-0 Red) at Pontiac (1-5, 1-4 Red) (Saturday 2:00 PM): The Dragons are rolling right now on both sides of the ball. Look for them to light up Pontiac on their homecoming at Wisner Stadium in front of Ray Wright. The Phoenix will have its dance on Saturday night but the afternoon will not pretty. Bring on the Wolves. PICK: LAKE ORION 49, PONTIAC 6.

2. Oak Park (6-0, 5-0 White) at 8. Harrison (4-2, 3-2 White) (6:00 PM): Both sides will have athletes but the Knights are on a mission. The edge goes to Oak Park with speed on the outside and also the Knights are deeper than Harrison. If Harrison's running back is healthy then this game will be really close. I think there is too much motivation for the Knights even though the Hawks need this game in the worst way but Oak Park on the road in Farmington should escape with this victory. PICK: OAK PARK 30, HARRISON 27.

3. Seaholm (5-1, 5-0 Blue) at 5. Lahser (5-1, 5-0 Blue): This match goes in a long way to decide the Blue. Seaholm has a very good defense and limited Avondale to 15 points but Lahser is a whole another offense. I’m going with the road team in this game but close than the experts think. PICK: SEAHOLM 14, LAHSER 10.

4. Farmington (5-1, 4-1 White) at North Farmington (2-4, 1-4 White): The Falcons are back on track after its loss to Oak Park a few weeks ago. Farmington should be confident heading into its home game with arch rival Harrison. PICK: FARMINGTON 45, NORTH FARMINGTON 6.

Troy (4-2, 3-2 Red) at 6. Clarkston (6-0, 5-0 Red): Dangerous match up for Clarkston here. Troy has a big line and athletes on both sides of the ball. The Wolves are a power running football team with its big offensive line. Hope Clarkston isn't looking ahead to next week’s trip to Lake Orion. Troy needs this win or the crossover along with Troy Athens just to make the playoffs. I have a strange feeling this game is going to go down the wire and become a shootout.  UPSET PICK: TROY 35, CLARKSTON 28. O/T.

7. Southfield (4-2, 3-2 White) at Adams (1-5, 1-4 White): Adams returns home for homecoming but the Jays are rolling and need this win to keep it’s options open for the playoffs. Southfield has way too much speed for the Highlanders. PICK: SOUTHFIELD 31, ADAMS 10.

Highland Park (0-6) at 9. Avondale (5-1, 4-1 Blue): The Yellow Jackets found an opponent to replace Andover on the schedule after an emotional loss to Seaholm last week. Congrats to the Avondale Athletic Department and coach Steve Deutch for finding his team a game and they will be rewarded with a big win. PICK: AVONDALE 42, HIGHLAND PARK 0.

Troy Athens (1-5, 1-4 Red) at 10. Rochester (4-2, 3-2 Red): The Falcons were humbled last week by Lake Orion. The Red Hawks lost a heart-breaker to Stoney Creek. Rochester is at home and should be one step closer to the playoffs. PICK: ROCHESTER 28, TROY ATHENS 14.

West Bloomfield (1-5, 1-4 Red) at Stoney Creek (3-3, 2-3 Red): The Cougars won a hard fought game last week over Athens return home to face the Lakers who almost spoiled Troy’s homecoming. Stoney Creek should win this game and focus on Rochester week eight. PICK: STONEY CREEK 35, WEST BLOOMFIELD 14.

Lathrup (1-5, 0-5 White) at Oxford (3-3, 3-2 White): The Wildcats return home after a blowout loss to Southfield last week and plays it’s final three games at home. Oxford will have no problem on its homecoming beating the other Southfield team. PICK: OXFORD 35, LATHRUP 6.

Detroit Henry Ford College Science of Arts (?) at Ferndale (2-4, 2-3 Blue): Ferndale had a horrible loss to Royal Oak last week on homecoming. Don’t know much on Henry Ford but they will upset the Eagles this week. PICK: DETROIT HENRY FORD COLLEGE SCIENCE OF ARTS 20, FERNDALE 13.

Groves (1-5, 1-5 Blue) at Royal Oak (1-5, 1-4 Blue): The Ravens upset the Eagles last week in Ferndale for their second win in five years. The Falcons had a week off. It’s Royal Oak’s homecoming so going with the Ravens. PICK: ROYAL OAK 25, GROVES 14.

Hazel Park (4-2, 4-1 Blue) at Berkley (2-4, 1-4 Blue): The Vikings are the most underrated team in the Blue but the schedule is tough with two home games against Seaholm and Lahser to close out the season. If they get these three wins then they could win the Blue. Berkley is fighting for pride right now but could give Hazel Park problems but it won’t happen in this edition of Hazel Park shootout at Hurley Field. PICK: HAZEL PARK 63, BERKLEY 56.
