Red Uniform Looks and Grades

Written Saturday October 13th, at 2:15 AM

This season’s version of football jerseys in the Red has some twists and turns to it during the season. Some are good, some not so much. So my grade on the uniforms is pretty basic so please don’t bash me on them, not trying to offend anyone but these are whom are my best uniforms are in the Red, not by order but you'll see by grade.

LAKE ORION:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Green jersey, Green Pants, (No names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, White Pants, (Names on back)
(Will mix at times)

The Dragons jerseys are very interesting. Lake Orion went with Nike as it’s provider to the jerseys. They did not like their green jerseys so they took them back. Normally they do put last names on the back of them but they didn't do it this season. The White jerseys though they do have the players names on the back and green elbows on them for its look. It looks like the New York Jets at times. The pants are the normal road green and white with the opposite lines on them. Lake Orion’s helmets are the double stripe and LO on the sides.

GRADE: C. The New Nike jerseys aren't the Orion type but the names on the back make things better. If both of the jerseys had player names then the grade would be different.

CLARKSTON:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Blue jersey, Blue Pants, (No names on the back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, White Pants, (No names on the back)
(Will mix at times)

The Wolves changed their look to a white-white, blue-blue combo a few seasons ago but they took the names off the back in 2004 before its game with Lake Orion but the look just isn’t the same especially now with their Under Armor jerseys. Clarkston looks like Michigan of the 1970’s on the road but the Home jersey is anything but Michigan. The helmets are the Michigan helmets of last season with the numbers on one side of them.

GRADE: D-. The Wolves are trying to be Michigan but the home jersey is not the greatest and the Michigan helmets are just scary to see. Also put the players names on the back please, it’s not normal to see Clarkston not put players names on the back.

TROY:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Black jersey, Black Pants, (Names on the back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, Black Pants, (No names on the back)

The Colts are an interesting team when it comes to uniform combinations instead of numbers on the sleeves they put the Colts logo on them instead. They do put last names on the home jerseys but not on the road jerseys for some reason, which baffles me. The helmets are the Colts logo on both sides.

GRADE: C. Road jerseys need names on the back. Home jerseys are very good with the names on the back and the Colts logo on them.

TROY ATHENS:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Red jersey, White Pants (Names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, White Pants (Names on back)

The Red Hawks finally settled on a uniform combo since this team has became the jolly of uniforms combos. Troy Athens does put player’s names on the back but at least for once they have settled on a helmet combo and a jersey. The helmet is white with a Red Hawk on it.

GRADE: B. The Helmet needs to be red but the names look great on the jerseys.

ROCHESTER:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Blue jersey, White Pants (Names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, White Pants (No names on back)

The Falcons went back to the classic uniform combo since Eric Vernon took over at Rochester but the helmet thing still questions me with the one side R otherwise nothing ordinarily. Vernon did add player’s names to the back for home jerseys this season but the road remains the same.

GRADE: C-. Road jersey are too plain while the blue jerseys were finally named up this season but also they need blue pants instead of the classic white pants.

STONEY CREEK:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Navy Blue jersey, Navy Blue Pants, (No names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, Navy Blue Pants, (No names on back)

The Cougars gold helmet makes sense with the Cougar cat on it, instead of the word Cougars on them. Stoney Creek has had plain jerseys with the STONEY CREEK name on the front and the numbers on the back. In my opinion this team needs player’s names on the back of the jerseys.

GRADE: B-. Love the classic STONEY CREEK name on the front but hate the fact that the jerseys don’t have the players names on the back.

PONTIAC:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Purple jersey, Purple Pants, (No names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, Gray Pants, (No names on back)
(Will mix at times)

The Phoenix does wear a purple combo but lately Pontiac has been with its traditional purple pants and purple jersey look but the gray combo has came out in some games though. The helmet is gray with the Phoenix logo on it.

GRADE: D-. The jerseys just doesn't look right at times, it could be better.

WEST BLOOMFIELD:

CURRENT HOME JERSEY: Green jersey, White Pants, (No names on back)
CURRENT ROAD JERSEY: White jersey, White Pants, (No names on back)

The Lakers are an interesting team in uniform design. The Lakers have the WB Anchor for its helmet and the word LAKERS on both home and road jerseys. West Bloomfield did wear green pants for a while but went to white pants and wore them ever since.

GRADE: C-. The Lakers have become too narrow in uniform design, bring back the green pants.

Order by grade of uniform designs:

1. Troy Athens: B
2. Stoney Creek: B-
3.. Lake Orion: C
4. Troy: C
5. West Bloomfield: C-
6. Rochester: C-
7. Clarkston: D-
8. Pontiac: D-
