Max Horneffer has arrived and he made an impact in the process.

While if you were a defensive coordinator and or defensive junky then you had a rough night.

Orion pulled out a wild 52-35 win over the Oxford Wildcats in the second annual Pink Out Game for Mother’s Wish. The win gave Orion the Double O Trophy for the second straight season.

Oxford (1-3, 0-3 Red) has lost five of the last seven meetings to the Dragons.

The Dragons needed every single point they needed against the Wildcats. At one point Orion led 38-14 at the end of the third quarter, five minutes later it was 38-35 in which included three quick scores and a kickoff recovery that led to Oxford's third score.

Horneffer finished the game with five touchdowns, four on the ground (eight, eight, 14, and 17 yard scores) and one receiving in which he caught a 39 yard reception for a score. He had 176 total yards (109 recieving and 67 yards rushing on seven carries.) Orion quarterback John Marshall was nine for 16 for 189 yards and a touchdown pass. Danny White added a 16 yard touchdown run and Dylan Frank put the game away with a 43-yard rushing touchdown in the game in which he finished with four carries for 72 yards.

Orion had over 400 yards of total offense (426 total yards- 19 first downs) and also balance on the ground and in the air. The Dragons defense despite having a long night stopping Oxford got two interceptions of quarterback Parker Fleming including one of from Horneffer in which he took it back 57 yards to the Wildcats eight yard line. It would lead to a Parker Blust 35 yard field goal for a 24-14 halftime score.

The Wildcats had solid performances as well. One was Ethan Williams had a big night, he had 156 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries (six and three yards out.) Williams running mate Trent Myre had 57 yards and two touchdowns (one and three yards out.) Fleming whom was six for 14 on the night with 66 passing yards scored on a seven yard bootleg to give Oxford a 21-0 jump start to an offense that scored 35 points and had 274 total yards of offense and 18 first downs.

Orion is now 2-2, 2-1 in the Red on the season and will go on the road for three games starting with a 5:30 PM game at Southfield Arts and Tech. The Warriors also come in 2-2 but is 2-0 in the Red. Southfield Arts and Tech is very talented so it will be an interesting game for the Dragons on Friday afternoon.

We’ll see what happens.
