Dragons Beat Colts. Focus on Getting Better.

Written Thursday October 24th, at 10:05 PM

The Lake Orion Dragons still struggled with mistakes and unforced errors tonight but did get a much needed win heading into the district playoffs.

After a stunning loss to Birmingham Seaholm on Tuesday the Coach Ross Talbott lead Dragons managed to right the ship for one night after beating Troy 25-18, 25-16, and 25-13 tonight at Lake Orion.

The Dragons were led by Tess Marshall’s 15 kills along with Kayla Rockey’s 12 kills. Hannah Murdock contributed with eight kills while Rachel Giwa added 25 assists.

The Colts were led by Sydney Alexander’s seven kills.

The game turned in the first set in which the Dragons were continuing to make mistakes only to see Troy tie the score 18-18 but Lake Orion with a couple of Giwa aces outscored the Colts 7-0 to seize the match.

Lake Orion would go into cruse control in the match but Troy fought hard. You got to give credit to Coach Tony Muscat and his players for the difficult situation they were in to start the season with the loss of their star player Olivia Parks. The Colts will regroup and get ready for their district at Troy Athens against Waterford Mott.

The Dragons will move on and focus on the North Branch Tournament and will be in district play in two weeks where they will meet the Clarkston/Stoney Creek winner in the district semifinals at Clarkston. It will likely be the Wolves that the Dragons will match up with so we’ll see what happens.
