Oxford Scouting Report

Written Wednesday October 16th, at 12:05 AM

The Wildcats have been riding high recently and recently league play has benefited the Oxford Wildcats.

Oxford comes into play holding a 25-11-5 record and 4-0 in the Red  host the 29-5-4 and 3-1 in the Red, Lake Orion Dragons on Thursday night.

The knack on the Wildcats has been do they have the help and talent to surround itself alongside future Oakland University outside hitter Darien Bandell.

This season that answer has been Yes. The Wildcats have a solid group of core players around Bandell in the form of Kennedy Orr, Taylor Tarnaski, and Julia Walker. These three players have been huge in helping out Bandell and giving Coach Kristi McDermitt something for other teams to think about and whom they could turn their focus outside of Bandell.

I’ve been looking at Oxford’s league schedule and that shocking three set win over Bloomfield Hills is huge for the program so far. The Wildcats have wins over North Farmington, Troy, and Birmingham Seaholm. Oxford hasn’t played Lake Orion, Clarkston, or Stoney Creek yet. All three of those teams are in the Wildcats district at Clarkston.

Can the Dragons rebound from a lackluster effort against Clarkston on Tuesday and get itself ready for the playoffs??? or will the Wildcats upset the Dragons in Ian Smith Gym. We’ll find out for sure what type of team Coach Ross Talbott has for sure on Thursday in Oxford.
