OAA Picks Week Three.

Written Wednesday September 10th, at 2:00 PM

Hello everyone, I haven’t been feeling well or the greatest but anyway here are my picks.

5. West Bloomfield at 1. Clarkston: When looking at this game, the Lakers will have a lot of athletes on display in this game. The Wolves survived Macomb Dakota and blew out Bloomfield Hills last week. Clarkston is a pistol team while West Bloomfield is a wishbone team. This will be West Bloomfield’s first test to prove that they belong with the best of the Red. This game will be closer than the experts think. DD PICK: CLARKSTON 27, WEST BLOOMFIELD 24. ANT PICK: CLARKSTON 45, WEST BLOOMFIELD 23.

6. Oak Park at 2. Harrison: Last season’s game was 60-52 Hawks in Farmington and now these two teams return to the scene of crazy game. The Knights have something to prove and they have been tested this season when they played Detroit Cass Tech at Wayne State. Harrison hasn’t been tested yet and it will show in this game. DD PICK: OAK PARK 28, HARRISON 21. ANT PICK: OAK PARK 49, HARRISON 41.

Royal Oak at 3. Southfield: This is such a bad match up for coach Tim Chapman’s Ravens. Royal Oak has allowed 61 points in the last two games and have been outscored by that number since they scored an opening season field goal. The Blue Jays destroyed Adams 35-0 last week and lost a tough one 21-19 at Wayne State to Orchard Lake St. Marys. This game will get ugly quick that the Southfield star secondary could take the second half off. DD PICK: SOUTHFIELD 56, ROYAL OAK 0. ANT PICK: SOUTHFIELD 42, ROYAL OAK 0.

4. Oxford at Troy Athens: This is a trap game for the Wildcats knowing that they face Lake Orion and Clarkston the next two weeks. This will be Oxford’s first road game of the season and not wearing their blue jerseys and wearing their plain whites. The Red Hawks, Missouri spread attack will give the Wildcats defense problems but the question will be is can the defense be up to the challenge against Oxford's pound the rock offense. DD PICK: TROY ATHENS 28, OXFORD 21. ANT PICK: OXFORD 17, TROY ATHENS 14.

Troy at 7. Orion: The Dragons have the first of it’s three home games this season against a Colts team that gave up 41 points to West Bloomfield last week. Troy is challenged on offense only scoring three points and we aren’t even talking about Matt Krause yet. Orion will roll in this game getting ready for a tough three game stretch against Oxford, Stoney Creek, and West Bloomfield. DD PICK: ORION 42, TROY 0. ANT PICK: ORION 35, TROY 3.

8. Avondale at Farmington: This game could decide the Blue when looking at this game but Berkley, Groves, and Ferndale will have a strong say about that. The Yellow Jackets though haven’t been tested yet feature the best running back Farmington will see in Josh Holloman. The Falcons will feature the best quarterback/wide receiver duo that Avondale has seen in Kyle Collins and Desmond Kirpatrick. This game will be close but leaning bees. DD PICK: AVONDALE 31, FARMINGTON 21. ANT PICK: FARMINGTON 28, AVONDALE 24.

9. Groves at Lathrup: Last week the Falcons beat a good Eagles team on the road. Now they get to play a Chargers team who didn’t look good against Farmington last week. Groves is the dark horse in the Blue and will show why in this one in front of one of the best bands in Oakland County. DD PICK: GROVES 35, LATHRUP 14: ANT PICK: GROVES 25, LATHRUP 14.

10. Stoney Creek at Bloomfield Hills: The Cougars lost a heartbreaker last week to Oxford and have questions some on offense. The Blackhawks have played two tough opponents in Walled Lake Northern and Clarkston. Stoney Creek will be an interesting team to watch in this game especially defensibly. DD PICK: STONEY CREEK 28, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7. ANT PICK: STONEY CREEK 24, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 3.

Berkley at Ferndale: The Bears have been red hot lately but this will be the first test that Berkley will see in the Eagles. Ferndale lost a tough one last week to Groves but has an opportunity to make a statement against one of its main rivals. DD PICK: BERKLEY 14, FERNDALE 10. ANT PICK: BERKLEY 28, FERNDALE 27.

Seaholm at Adams: The Highlanders have been a huge disappointment this season especially defensibly at 0-2. The Maples have a good quarterback in Tommy Sheppard but have questions defensibly and survived North Farmington 17-16 last week. Adams is at home and it will be a close one. The Highlanders defense is still an issue especially it’s pass defense and look for Seaholm to expose that match up. DD PICK: SEAHOLM 28, ADAMS 27. ANT PICK: ADAMS 35, SEAHOLM 7.

North Farmington at Rochester: Raiders coach Kyle Schultz took a huge gamble last week in going for the win against Seaholm but it was incomplete and the Maples won 17-16 last week. The Falcons haven’t scored a point this season. Rochester was shut out 42-0 two weeks ago by Lapeer and 36-0 by Harrison last week. The Falcons could score points this week being at home but won’t win the game despite hope from Oakland Press MIPrepzone coordinator Keith Dunlap’s school. DD PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 24, ROCHESTER 0. ANT PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 21, ROCHESTER 7.

Hazel Park at Pontiac: Somebody will win this game this week and end a miserable losing streak. The Vikings have lost 15 straight games since beating Royal Oak 58-47 in 2012. The Phoenix have lost 17 straight games since beating Troy Athens 17-14 in 2012. Someone is going to be very happy just for this week. DD PICK: PONTIAC 17, HAZEL PARK 6. ANT PICK: PONTIAC 17, HAZEL PARK 7.
