OAA Recap Week Four.

Written Saturday September 20th, at 12:00 AM

Top 10:

1. Clarkston
2. Oxford
3. Southfield
4. Oak Park
5. West Bloomfield
6. Harrison
7. Groves
8. Berkley
9. Farmington
10. Avondale

BIG WIN OF THE NIGHT: Oxford 21, Orion 14: The Wildcats and Dragons were evenly matched Friday night. Oxford took advantage of three defensive stands in rout to recapturing the Double O Trophy for the second time in four seasons. Orion now stands at 2-2 and must win next week to keep playoff hopes alive.

TOUGH LOSS: Ferndale: The Eagles had promising hopes but losing 55-14 to Farmington at home hurts. Ferndale must regroup and focus on Lathrup, the Eagles maybe the toughest 1-3 team in the state right now.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Rochester: Things have been tough for coach Eric Vernon lately. The Falcons have only scored seven points in four games. They were shutout 53-0 by Oak Park, now this is the third opponent to shut the Falcons out this season.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Bloomfield Hills 21, Troy 6: The Colts were at home for the first time this season and they allow 21 points to a team that hasn’t been in the Red long. I didn’t think it would get this bad in Troy, especially with Stoney Creek visiting next week.

Last Week’s Games:

1. Clarkston 35, Stoney Creek 14
2. Oxford 21, Orion 14

5. West Bloomfield 45, Troy Athens 3
6. Harrison 42, Seaholm 7
7. Groves 50, Pontiac 0
8. Berkley 42, Hazel Park 0
9. Farmington 55, Ferndale 14
10. Avondale 33, Lathrup 10
Adams 48, Royal Oak 17
Bloomfield Hills 21, Troy 6

This Week’s Games:

1. Clarkston at 2. Oxford
6. Harrison at 3. Southfield
Adams at 4. Oak Park
5. West Bloomfield at Orion
Hazel Park at 7. Groves
8. Berkley at 10. Avondale
9. Farmington at Pontiac
Stoney Creek at Troy
Royal Oak at North Farmington
Troy Athens at Bloomfield Hills
Seaholm at Rochester
Ferndale at Lathrup

Top Games Next Week:

1. Clarkston at 2. Oxford: This is clearly a trap game for the Wolves. It’s the Wildcats homecoming and they remember losing 30-27 in the playoffs last season. Oxford is clearly tough on it’s home field and this will be the first time that Clarkston has visited the blue turf. The Wildcats are riding high after beating Orion 21-14 last week. The Wolves have their hands full this week.

6. Harrison at 3. Southfield: The Blue Jays and Hawks have had classics. Southfield won at home last season snapping a streak where the road team has won in this series. Harrison will be motivated but the question will be is can Javon Shaw pass against the division one recruit secondary that the Blue Jays have???

Adams at 4. Oak Park: This is a huge game for the Highlanders considering it’s playoff hopes ride in this one. The Knights are unbeaten and will have Adams at home, last season Oak Park went into Rochester and beat the Highlanders. Can Adams return the favor?

5. West Bloomfield at Orion: The Lakers are riding high after beating Troy Athens 45-3, now they will step in to the roll as a rare favorite heading into the Dragons game. Lake Orion lost a tough 21-14 game to Oxford and could be in danger of losing it’s first homecoming game since 2000.

8. Berkley at 10. Avondale: The Bears went into Auburn Hills and stunned the Yellow Jackets 34-31 on it’s homecoming last season. Now Berkley returns to Avondale where Josh Holloman awaits but the Bears defense has only allowed 30 points through four games.
