OAA Picks: Week Four

Written Tuesday September 16th, at 10:30 PM

1. Clarkston at 9. Stoney Creek: Kurt Richardson remembers the situation last season when he witnessed the Cougars shock Lake Orion 36-7. The Wolves will have their first road game of the season when they go to Rochester. This will be a tough test for Clarkston, Stoney Creek will be ready for this one. DD PICK: CLARKSTON 31, STONEY CREEK 28. ANT PICK: CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 32.

7. Orion at 2. Oxford: This maybe the game of the week for the Double O Trophy. This game features top players on both sides. The Dragons have Cameron Kotisch, Matt Krause, Keith Fields, and Zach Serzo. The Wildcats have Dallas Truitt, Scott Studenbach, and Glacier Wallington. Oxford likes the pound the rock while Orion likes the quick strike approach. Expect this game to be close and very physical. Hearts will be pounding. DD PICK: ORION 17, OXFORD 14. ANT PICK: ORION 28, OXFORD 14.

3. Southfield at North Farmington: The Blue Jays put up 62 points last week against Royal Oak. This is a huge game for the Raiders who are 2-1 but it won’t be enough to beat Southfield. DD PICK: SOUTHFIELD 42, NORTH FARMINGTON 21. ANT PICK: SOUTHFIELD 49, NORTH FARMINGTON 3.

Rochester at 4. Oak Park:  I can’t think of anything positive for the Falcons, they scored a touchdown last week but won’t win this week in Knight Valley. John Kelly may as well get ready for next week when Adams comes a calling. DD PICK: OAK PARK 77, ROCHESTER 0. ANT PICK: OAK PARK 70, ROCHESTER 0.

Troy Athens at 5. West Bloomfield: The Lakers lost a tough one last week 55-41 to Clarkston. The Red Hawks were a disaster last week against Oxford allowing 56 points. Troy Athens is in deep trouble in this one. DD PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 56, TROY ATHENS 7. ANT PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, TROY ATHENS 14.

6. Harrison at Seaholm: The Hawks were shut out for the first time since 2004 when Orion won 19-0 when they lost 27-0 to Oak Park. The Maples were destroyed last week by Adams 34-7. Seaholm looks comfortable at home but this is a ticked off team they are going up against in Harrison. DD PICK: HARRISON 34, SEAHOLM 7. ANT PICK: HARRISON 24, SEAHOLM 21.

Pontiac at 8. Groves: The Falcons return home after winning two critical games over Ferndale and Lathrup. The Phoenix snapped a 13 game losing streak by beating Hazel Park 17-0 last week. A dose of reality is coming here for Pontiac. DD PICK: GROVES 35, PONTIAC 7. ANT PICK: GROVES 38, PONTIAC 0.

10. Berkley at Hazel Park: The Bears are riding high at 3-0 and has a stout defense. The Vikings have no chance after losing last week to Pontiac 17-0. DD PICK: BERKLEY 63, HAZEL PARK 0. ANT PICK: BERKLEY 42, HAZEL PARK 0.

Lathrup at Avondale: The Yellow Jackets were humiliated last week 35-0 at Farmington but now they return home to face a Chargers team that has struggled as of late. Avondale will be ready for this one but so will Lathrup. DD PICK: AVONDALE 28, LATHRUP 7. ANT PICK: AVONDALE 32, LATHRUP 31.

Farmington at Ferndale: The Falcons had a huge win over Avondale last week 35-0. The Eagles lost a tough game to Berkley 20-14 in double overtime. Farmington has better athletes and better players. Ferndale will be competitive in this game as well. DD PICK: FERNDALE 24, FARMINGTON 21. ANT PICK: FARMINGTON 28, FERNDALE 14.

Adams at Royal Oak: Ryan Irish returns to Royal Oak but as an assistant coach. The Ravens defense has been awful lately and will now have to deal with an Highlanders offense that put up 34 points last week against Seaholm. DD PICK: ADAMS 70, ROYAL OAK 0. ANT PICK: ADAMS 63, ROYAL OAK 0.

Bloomfield Hills at Troy: The Colts have their first home game of the season against the Blackhawks. Both teams have star players with Troy having Eric Papagernda while Bloomfield Hills has Nate Emery. This game will be interesting. DD PICK: TROY 28, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 17. ANT PICK: TROY 21, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 17.
